We have felled the mighty beast and oppressive ruler of the undead THE LICH KING. After long nights of experimentation and trying to keep track of the mistakes we had made the previous attempts everything finally clicked on the morning of July 21st, 2010. Everyone did their jobs flawlessly and made it an almost perfect kill. This was a long time coming and everyone should be extremely proud of themselves as we have looked into the face of perseverance and laughed as we stepped on its throat and slowly extinguished its life.

As an afterthought we paid a visit to Halion since it was still so early in the night and bitchslapped him until he gave us his sweet lootz (Don’t worry Caryn your trinket will drop soon!).

Obscure Pokemon reference in the title? Maybe, but that won’t stop the posting of this news update. Halion the Easy is dead and thus far provided no real challenge to our raiding force thus far. Not even when we are 3-4 people short of having a full raid. It was a great change of pace from the encounters in Icecrown Citadel, granted it wasn’t as large as Sunwell Plateau in relation to The Black Temple in terms of new boss encounters when it was first released, but it was refreshing none the less. Two weeks in a row and 2 dragon kills with no signs of slowing down… Huzzah!

While we have made quick progress on downing Halion we are still working our way towards the death of Arthas. The past few weeks have been tough as it has been an uphill battle getting 25 people online all at the same time, but due to the diligence of Caryn and Magic we have finally started getting 25 people online and on time which has started to pay its dividends. We have taken the Lich King down to his final phase (below the 40% mark) and the results are promising thus far. It will be good when we finally down him and silence the nay sayers that have tried to downplay our progress up to this point. Everyone should be proud of the effort that has been put forth. Without further adieu…

Yep the brood mother Sindragosa has fallen to the lovable band of scamps known as Nocturnal. Now that we have fully rebuilt our ranks and geared the newest members of our crew things are coming together as one would normally come to expect from a group of people that spends over 10 hours a week together all working towards the same goal which is obviously the Lich King himself formerly known as Arthas Menethil. Now that we are finally to the point of being able to compete with the Lich King without making it harder on ourselves via lack of gear it is to be expect we will spend many a night “learning” the encounter trying to force his death. Here’s to us right?

After rebuilding the guild and gearing up the new folks (many new to raiding) we have finally got over the hump that the previous incarnation of Nocturnal was stuck on dating back to Mid February. Throughout this process of trial & error we have persevered and come out on top. This was only possible with the patience of the Veterans and the willingness to learn from the Recruits. Everyone worked together without egos and the end for these deviants was inevitable. Kudos to everyone involved in this epic win.

Professor Putricide thought we would go quietly into the night and fall to his dastardly experiments. He was wrong. It took some trial and error but we persevered and headed gallantly forward into the Blood Queen’s Chamber. Even though she did best us in our first 5 attempts, our spirits are renewed with our recent accomplishments. Here are the spoils from our first Prof. Putricide kill:

A quick update this week as we have been busy little bees…

Not only did we lay the smack down on Festergut and Rotface, but we showed the Blood Princes who were the real kings of the castle when we put them to sleep for good. Next on the agenda is Prof. Putricide and Blood Queen Lana’thel. Due to our recent success in the citadel we were recently able to obtain a Shadow’s Edge for resident tanking death knight Caryn as well as our two Deeps Arafel and Xantos. I believe congratulations are in order!

As we stood in awe of the sheer size of Icecrown Citadel, it was apparent that what stood before us presented more of a challenge than any other previous dungeons laid before us in the World of Warcraft. Keeping our wits about us and staying focused on the task at hand we marched through the lower spire of the fortress laying waste to any of the demonic messengers Arthas may have sent to greet us on our way in.

Besting the waves of enemies he threw at us we handily defeated Lord Marrowgar and made our way to Lady Deathwhisper. As powerful as she may have been her magic was no challenge for us. Once we collected our loot we headed to the upper area of the lower spire to board Orgrim’s Hammer. The foolish alliance decided they would try to impede our progress and take the treasures for themselves. This of course did not happen. After we sent Muradin Bronzebeard and his motley crew of misfits running with their tails between their legs we finally had reached the top of the lower spire…

There with High Overlord Saurfang we were about to breech the Plagueworks until the High Overlord’s former son Dranosh Saurfang showed up proclaming he was now Deathbringer Saurfang, an agent of the Lich King. When the father tried to rescue his son he was pushed aside and we knew then what we had to do. Needless to say High Overlord Saurfang is safe and the Plagueworks now await us.

Once again we are plugging along as an overwhelming force that the Ulduar forces cannot stand up against. This time the one that fell to our blade was Steelbreaker as the last agent of the Iron Council. As of this kill we have obtained our guild first Archivum Data Disc. Now this will enable us to work towards Algalon and finally cease all operations of Ulduar and focus our attentions on Icecrown Citadel very soon, of course this is hindering on the chance Blizzard releases patch v3.3 within the next month.

With this progression in Ulduar we will soon be bashing in on the party known as Heroic Trial of the Grand Crusader as we were using Ulduar Hard Modes to hone our skills for the challenges presented to raiders in Heroic ToGC. Expect news from us very soon on our progression through the Coliseum.

Oh how the mighty have fallen not to mention my updating skills. Yeah yeah Im 4 days late with the update, so sue me. With XT-002 down hard mode down we now can finally move on to Hodir and Thorim. So looking forward to that (/sarcasm on). I dont foresee Hodir being to much of a problem considering we almost had it last week without trying. Thorim could prove to be challenging though. Looking forward to it.

After getting screwed out of our kill on Thursday due to the spawning bug that prevented us from starting the event in the first place we killed the Former Nerubian King. Such is life I suppose… the “man” always keeping the little guy down. Oh well. Fight was pretty fun overall with the short enrage timer and add management. I guess this now means we can start our “learning process” on 25m Heroic modes. Oh joy! Without trying we almost met the speed kill timer for Hodir and Thorim. Guess we are at the “next level” or whatever you would call it. Yay us!

As a reward for all the guilds hard work on Yogg the officers decided to buy a Mechano-hog using guild funds and award that to a random person that was part of the raid (/sadface I had to sit out because we always have 5 tanks show up, dedication ftw). So now we have a new part of the Nocturnal Mechano-Hog Gang and her name is Sãvannah, F*ck my life. Until next time guys…

On a happy upside we were able to down Flame Leviathan + 3 with little effort. I will say at least doing hard modes in Ulduar keep the fights from getting stale and gives us something to do after horribly destroying the Coliseum challenges. Here’s to hoping heroic 25 man Coliseum keeps us busy much like Yogg-Saron has.

Yep, Faction Champions down which chalks up another kill for us regarding a new Coliseum event again on the inaugural night again. This proves that most of a guild’s time raiding isn’t wiping on new encounters, its wasted killing meaningless trash mobs that do no good for anyone and this includes when they drop a purple .0023549% of the time and even when they do its nothing anyone would ever use except an alt of a raider who he himself is raiding for the first time in 3 weeks. I must say though that the faction champions event is immensely fun and its great to see them (retards at blizzard) break the mold with mindless “Tank mob here and have everyone else deal adds”.

Since blizzard didnt think of anything substantial we could use for a screenshot kill I had to screenie the loot link Xantos gave us in raid chat. Thanks Blizzard…

As a closing thought for those that were wondering if we forgot about Yogg-Saron. Nope… Unfortunately he seemed easier “pre nerf”. I don’t see the crushers spawning any slower in 25m, but hey at least the clouds snitch on who screwed up and touched them (^_^) Check the thumbnail below a piece of insight into our chaos ~

Yap General Vezax is now on farm status. Normally I would be giddy about almost being done with a raid zone, but being done with Vezax means we now have been dealing with Yogg-Saron and it sucks /sadface (>_<)...

Anyway the Yogg fight isn't difficult due to the mechanics of the fight. The hard part is getting people to pay attention to where they are in regards to green gaseous clouds lurking around the room. Blizzard knows this is the bane of many a' raiding guilds and its no different for us. If you have never wanted to stab someone in the throat for screwing up a raid encounter try Yogg-Saron sometime while your guild is in a "Learning Phase" with him. Good times.

On a side note I would use this space to brag about our awesome loots from General, but the ML / CT Raidtracker plugin I use to track loot and raid attendees fucked up the data import string and instead of actually acknowledging the problem the addon authors keep refering to a solution that isn't relevant to my problem so for now you'll just have to look at the pretty picture.
